Welcome to Deep Search. This Privacy Policy outlines how your personal information is collected, used, and protected when you use the Deep Search Chrome Extension (“Extension”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Deep Search acts as a central command center and search tool for your browser. To provide this functionality, the Extension requests certain permissions and accesses specific data:

1.1 Browser Data

  • Tabs, Bookmarks, and History: We access your open tabs, saved bookmarks, and browsing history strictly to allow you to search through them instantly from the Extension’s overlay.

1.2 Connected Third-Party Services

Deep Search integrates with various third-party services to provide unified search capabilities. If you choose to connect these services, we request read-only access to: – Google Workspace: Your email address (for identification), Gmail messages, Google Drive files, and Google Calendar events. – Slack, Notion, and Jira: Read-only access to messages, documents, pages, and tickets respectively, based on the OAuth permissions you grant when connecting these services.

1.3 How Data is Processing

  • Local Processing: The vast majority of operations and search indexing occur locally within your browser.
  • Direct API Calls: Communications with third-party services (like Google, Slack, Notion, Jira) happen directly between your browser and the respective service’s API.
  • Storage: Account credentials and OAuth tokens are stored securely using Chrome’s local storage and sync mechanisms. We do not transmit or store your personal data, search queries, or the contents of your emails, documents, or tickets on any external servers operated by Deep Search.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively to: – Provide, operate, and maintain the search functionality of the Extension. – Display relevant search results from your connected services, tabs, bookmarks, and history in the Deep Search overlay. – Maintain your active sessions with connected third-party platforms.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties.

3. Google API Services User Data Policy

Deep Search’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • We only use access to read your Google Workspace data (Gmail, Drive, Calendar) to provide the core search functionality.
  • We do not use your Google data for serving advertisements.
  • We strictly limit human access to your data, except when obtaining your explicit consent to resolve a support issue or when required by law.

4. Third-Party Integrations

Our Extension allows you to connect with external services (e.g., Google, Slack, Notion, Jira). These services have their own privacy policies governing their collection and use of your data over which we have no control. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies.

5. Security

The security of your data is important to us. Deep Search utilizes secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS) when communicating with third-party APIs. OAuth tokens and necessary settings are stored using your browser’s built-in secure storage (chrome.storage). Remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Your data remains under your control. Since data is fetched dynamically and cached locally in your browser, you can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing your Chrome extension data.
  • You can revoke Deep Search’s access to your third-party accounts (e.g., Google, Slack, Notion, Jira) directly from the security or connected apps settings of those respective platforms.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy and, if necessary, through the Extension. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
